Revisiting Paintings

As I develop, which I am constantly doing I hope, I see some finished paintings in a different light. When this happens I pull out a fresh canvas and do a new painting of the same subject, and other times I rework the completed painting bringing it up to my new vision. When I sign a piece I consider it to be done, but over time, through constant painting, my way of seeing changes. Reviewing my sketchbook where concepts are born and develop, I find little drawings of things that inspired me enough to sketch them (my way of saving things), like thistles that can be added to paintings. Here are four paintings that I reworked using sketches of thistles.

The sketches of the thistles which inspired me are gone because they were done on the back of other sketches I had framed for sale.
